Wrexham’s executive director Humphrey Ker has been quizzed about the possibility of luring Jamie Vardy to the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham are braced for a busy summer of spending as they prepare for their challenge of League One football.
Under Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, the Reds have shown ambition in the transfer market.
Their appetite for luring ex-Premier League players to the club was satisfied last summer as Steven Fletcher and James McClean both arrived at the club.
That pair were crucial in helping Wrexham earn promotion and have since seen their contracts extended, despite approaching the end of their careers.
A similar recruitment model is expected, whereby McElhenney and Reynolds target experience over youngsters with a long-term resale value.
The duo have already highlighted their ambitions to get Wrexham into the Championship, with several surprises likely to be thrown up this summer.
Humphrey Ker quizzed about bringing Jamie Vardy to Wrexham
Leicester City legend and Premier League title winner Jamie Vardy has just enjoyed another fine season of goal-scoring.
Despite celebrating his 37th birthday in January, the Foxes talisman scored 18 goals from 17 Championship starts to seal their return to the top flight.

With his contract expiring this summer, Vardy is discussing a fresh deal at the club, which would rule out any possibility of him departing on a free transfer.
Yet, when asked if Wrexham could make a move for the Leicester goal machine, executive director Humphrey Ker refused to rule anything out.

Speaking in an interview with SPORTbible, Ker said: “There’s nothing to say that Jamie Vardy wouldn’t be a great Wrexham player.
“It’s not a name I’ve had mentioned inside the building before but, you know, age and profile wouldn’t put us off.”
Humphrey Ker reveals Wrexham’s recruitment direction
Ker said that Vardy’s age wouldn’t put Wrexham off. Having signed Fletcher, 37, and McClean, 35, everyone knows the Reds are open to signing older players.
McElhenney even said in a recent interview he ‘wants to win right now’, which suggests Phil Parkinson will be tasked with targeting older players in this window.
Wrexham reduced the age and size of their squad by letting go of eight players, five of whom were aged 30 or over, so that has opened space for new signings to be made.
It appears the Welsh side will continue driving their recruitment model towards experience instead of acquiring younger players.
It’s a strategy that has served them well in the National League and League Two, but as they enter the League One gauntlet, a blend of youth and experience would be beneficial.
They should look at the age and profile of Max Cleworth as an example of players they should be looking at in this market; youngsters for cheap who have a lot of potential.
