Wrexham are receiving backlash from some fans following the club’s latest announcement regarding 2025’s pre-season tour.

Wrexham have spent the last couple of years jetting off to North America to prepare for their league campaigns.

However, it has now been confirmed by the club that they will be swapping the US for Australia this year.

The Red Dragons, as has been speculated recently, will play out three matches in Australia, beginning on July 11 and ending on July 19.

They will face Melbourne Victory, Sydney FC, and Wellington Phoenix before flying back to the UK.

Fans not happy with Wrexham ticket price for Australia pre-season tour

The announcement was made in the early hours on Tuesday, and fans have, for the most part, not reacted too well to the news.

The main issue drawing the ire of fans is the price of tickets, which can be seen for the first two fixtures named above here.

One fan wrote: “Absolute rip off to watch Wrexham!”

A second replied: “Not at that price.. You ain’t big enough.”

Another supporter simply wrote in response to the price: “Gulp $150.”

While a fourth added: “150 aud to watch a championship side in a circular stadium. Without bringing stands in.”

And a fifth Australian fan stated: “Having a laugh at that price. May as well fly over to Wales and watch you play a real game. Wtf is this —-?

There were a couple of positive replies, with Sydney’s official X account replying: “Bring it on,” and one fan writing: “Forza Sydney.” But the general reaction to the pricing was pretty negative.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds statement on Wrexham’s Australia pre-season tour

Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds released a joint statement when the club’s 2025 pre-season tour was announced, as per the club’s website.

They wrote: “From the very beginning, we wanted to help make Wrexham a globally recognised team, town and brand. We could not be more excited to bring the Red Dragons to Australia and New Zealand, and we are particularly proud that this announcement features neither a Men at Work or Hugh Jackman joke.

“The latter of which took maturity and tremendous restraint. We’re proud of Ryan. Of course, we make no promises going forward.”

Various figures from the three Australian clubs also reacted to the news, with Wellington Phoenix General Manager David Dome saying he is ‘delighted to be welcoming Wrexham’.
