Wrexham’s plans for the new Kop stand have faced some issues as a request to use all 5,500 seats has been refused by the local council, leaving many fans confused and frustrated.

A year ago, Wrexham were given permission to demolish the terraces. This is in preparation to build a new Kop stand in its place.

As a result of this, Phil Parkinson’s side have been playing home games with just three stands at the Racecourse.

The planning process saw permission given to Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney and Co. to build a new stand.

With that being said, the plans for the Kop see 5,500 as the top capacity. This would mean 600 seats would have to remain empty.

As a result of this, the Reds had put in a request to allow it to be full upon opening.

According to Leader Live, the request has been denied due to the potential river pollution that could be caused.

This decision has left Wrexham fans confused and unhappy on social media.

What has been said by Wrexham fans?

With the reports emerging surrounding the Kop coming out, fans have been left questioning the reasoning and how it affects them.

The news was posted by RobRyanRed on Twitter and the conversation surrounding this was rife.

This fan was clearly confused given the size of the stand will still hold 5,500 seats.

At the time of writing, there is no right of appeal to allow the stand to be filled upon opening. But that isn’t the end of the story.

It is said that the council are looking for evidence that the new stand won’t create any additional river pollution.

If it can be proved by the club and the council that this is not the case, there may still be a chance of 5,500 fans packing out the Kop.

This fan asked a legitimate question from a first glance. It does seem strange that the stand would be allowed, but not to be used.

The club had planned for a 5,500 capacity and it is the council who have said that 600 of those seats can’t be filled.

It is confusing that these seats are going to be there but empty. With that being said there must be hope they can be filled at some point in the future.

At the end of the day, to have an additional 4,900 Reds in the Racecourse, there is still a silver lining.

The opportunity for a whole load of new fans to take a seat and get behind the Reds moving forward is promising.

This fan obviously is looking forward to the completion of the Kop, 5,500 fans or not.

There is no guarantee that these plans will continue to be refused by the council, This may see it be opened at full capacity.

Hopefully, more information on the Kop will come out soon. It will need to be easier for fans and the club to understand.
