Wrexham fans may finally see some new signings in action tomorrow, as James McClean and Will Boyle could both make their debuts for the club away at AFC Wimbledon.

Boyle, who joined from Huddersfield in the summer window, has yet to feature after picking up an injury, whilst McClean was left out of the Carabao Cup victory over Wigan as part of a gentleman’s agreement following his transfer.

A report from The Leader has now hinted that both could feature tomorrow, as Wrexham aim to grab their first victory in League Two, following their heavy home defeat to MK Dons last weekend.

Manager Phil Parkinson has hinted that Boyle could be available for training, and therefore may be fit to appear, whilst McClean could even start to add plenty of creativity to the side.

“Will is due back in training,” Parkinson said ahead of the game.

Wrexham’s quiet transfer window

Wrexham have had a surprisingly quiet summer window, with it previously anticipated that they could splash the cash on multiple arrivals.

Goalkeeper Luke McNicholas looks set to become the third signing of the summer after Boyle and McClean, and more could follow, with a striker particularly sought after whilst Paul Mullin remains sidelined with a punctured lung.

Nevertheless, Parkinson will back his squad, who were promoted from the National League in stunning style, to compete at the top of League Two without wholesale changes in the window.

Continuity could help maintain momentum from last season, but Wrexham will need to get back to winning ways soon if they are to sustain a promotion challenge in the fourth division.

The 0-0 draw with Wigan, which saw Wrexham advance to the next round of the cup on penalties, was a highly encouraging display, but travelling away to Wimbledon could present a different challenge, and one the squad will have to get used to ahead of a long season.
