Wrexham co-owner, Rob McElhenney has reacted to Tom O’Connor’s winner in the FA Cup vs Shrewsbury this weekend.
This season has seen Wrexham follow on from the last and secure themselves in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Last campaign saw Phil Parkinson’s side take a victory over Coventry City before narrowly being knocked out by Sheffield United.
This time out, the Reds were dominated at times by Shrewsbury who failed to make many of their guilt-edged chances count.
It is safe to say that the Reds didn’t go without chances of their own with Elliot Lee unfortunate not to be on the scoresheet.
Thankfully Wrexham eventually took the lead as substitute, Sam Dalby laid the ball off to Tom O’Connor who scored. His deflected effort left Marko Marosi clutching at thin air as the Reds confirmed their place in the next round.

With that being said, there were some great scenes in the stands of the New Meadow as the Reds celebrated. Now Rob McElhenney has provided his reaction.

There was nothing short of carnage behind the goal as O’Connor’s deflected strike found the back of the net. The fans were all over the place celebrating the goal and the noise was deafening.
In a surprise to no Wrexham fans, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were both eagerly watching the game. This saw the pair both make posts to social media to show their support for their side.
The official Emirates FA Cup made a post to Twitter showing the limbs in the Wrexham end, they said: “It’s fair to say Wrexham fans enjoyed that goal.” McElhenney has now reacted to the post.
The Reds’ co-owner said: “You should’ve seen my living room.” Given his reactions to certain moments in ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘, you can only imagine what he got up to.
It is great to see what McElhenney makes of the goal and it is always great to hear about him and Reynolds watching games.
Another FA Cup run looks as if it is on the cards. This is given that the Reds are now into the fourth round for the second time in as many seasons. Last season it was Sheffield United at home, the Reds find out tonight their next-round opponents.
If Wrexham are drawn against a big team in the next round you can only imagine the reactions of the owners then.
