Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has claimed that the club’s promotion to League Two has allowed the production of a black third kit, as sales begin of the new jerseys.

The club’s promotion back to the fourth division for the first time since 2008 has caused jubilation among the fanbase, and there is now another reason to be happy that they are no longer competing in the National League.

Under National League rules, according to the actor, Wrexham could not have had a black kit, despite the owner’s desire to release one. League Two has no such ruling, and the club have now released a sleek black third shirt which is likely to sell quickly.

McElhenney tweeted his excitement over the new kit, which features red on the sleeves but is otherwise black with lighter patterning in the middle.

What are Wrexham’s aims for next season?

Although there are new kits to be excited about, there are currently no new arrivals in the transfer market, and Wrexham look set to compete with a similar squad to the one which they were promoted with.

However, their squad in the National League performed so well that they may fancy their chances at back-to-back promotions.

Wrexham are the odds-on favourites to achieve automatic promotion from the League, as the reign of Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney appears to be breaking new ground in terms of on-pitch soccer success.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster has extended his stay at the club after initially joining on a shock transfer having previously retired from the game, and star striker Paul Mullin will fancy his chances at winning another top goalscorer award in the league.

The new kit can be purchased at the Wrexham store, or online here, for fans further away.
