Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have given a hilarious response to a video Ben Foster uploaded onto social media.
As a former Manchester United and Premier League goalkeeper, it was a shock to many when Ben Foster signed for Wrexham in March 2023.
The experienced keeper returned to the Racecourse Ground 18 years after he last played for the club, on a loan spell from Stoke City at the time.
Towards the end of last season, Wrexham were short on goalkeepers following the injury to Rob Lainton, so the signing of Foster not only ensured cover in that department but would also bring vital experience in their push for promotion.
Foster would leave an ever-lasting impact on Phil Parkinson’s side having made that penalty save in the crucial 3-2 victory over Notts County in April, which helped them secure the National League title.
The former Reds shot-stopper has now appeared in a clip posted by the club’s official X account speaking about those penalty-saving heroics.
In the clip, he said: “It’s come to the attention of the club that in January the birth rate in Wrexham jumped nearly 25 per cent from this time last year.
“And I feel, kind of, responsible.”
In the video, the footage shows Foster’s penalty save and the joyous moment of supporters hugging each other in the city’s pubs.
It then advertises baby products by Vistaprint, one of Wrexham AFC’s kit sponsors.

Rob McElhenney responded with a reference to Valentines Day, “I think this is what they call unintended consequences. Happy Valentine’s Day!”
Ryan Reynolds, meanwhile, leapt at the chance to comment on this, referencing the ‘pull the goalie’ phrase which is when a couple stop taking birth control.
He wrote: “Normally this happens when you pull the goalie, not the other way around. Trust me.”
Reynolds and McElhenney are adored by Wrexham supporters for how they’ve transformed the club in the past three years and the above humourous tweets will only contribute to their admiration.
Ironically, the Reds host Notts County at the Racecourse Ground on Saturday as Parkinson’s side aim to strengthen their automatic promotion chances.
Following their hard-earned victory against Sutton United on Tuesday, Wrexham are two points behind third-place Crewe Alexandra with two games in hand.
