Wrexham have promotion ambitions of their own in the 2024/25 season.
Since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought Wrexham back in 2021, their fans have become accustomed to battling for promotion.
Their first full season as owners saw the Red Dragons make it into the play-offs before suffering defeat and being forced to spend another year in the National League.
However, Phil Parkinson was able to guide the Hollywood-owned club out of the fifth tier of English football in 2022/23 by finishing first.
Following on from their title-winning campaign, Wrexham secured second place in League Two last season and are once again battling to move up a division in 2024/25.
Wrexham face Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon and there’s a good chance a win will move them level on points with second-place Wycombe Wanderers, who are away to Birmingham City this weekend.
Meanwhile, a former Red Dragons star could be set to secure a promotion of his own this term.

Former Wrexham player Kevin Roberts close to promotion
The man in question is Kevin Roberts, who joined Wrexham from Halifax Town in July 2017 for an undisclosed fee.
Roberts made 75 appearances during his time at the Racecourse Ground, in which he provided four assists.
He then left the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2019, linking up with Chester FC.
Roberts’ first season at the club saw him help Chester reach the National League North play-offs before they lost out to Altrincham.
In 2024/25, however, it looks as though the former Wrexham man and his current team may not need play-offs to secure promotion.
As is the case in the National League, only one team in the National League North secures automatic promotion.
And with 35 games of the season gone, it is Chester and Roberts who sit at the top of the division with 66 points amassed.
There are still 11 games of the campaign to play but given their form, there’s a good chance Roberts will be back playing in the National League come 2025/26.

Wrexham promotion chances assessed
As already mentioned, Wrexham are in a promotion battle of their own this term.
Currently, a play-off place seems nailed on unless Parkinson’s men endure a major collapse in the final two months of the season.
However, the battle to finish second is much tougher, and Opta do not give Wrexham a high chance of doing so.
Their predicted table gives the Red Dragons a 0.04 percent chance of winning the League One title and a 17.14 percent chance of winning automatic promotion.
On a more positive note, Wrexham have been given a 75.62 chance of going up to the Championship by winning the play-offs.
