Wrexham’s form in League Two as of late has been concerning as an ‘underwhelming’ verdict regarding their promotion chances has emerged.
With Hollywood superstars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds sailing their ship towards promotion, almost every team in League Two wants to get one over on Wrexham.
The amount of money they’ve spent, coupled with their ever-growing status as a global force, teams see beating the Welsh side as taking a huge scalp and their form has dropped.
Wrexham’s last two results have been poor, drawing at home to Harrogate before slipping to a 1-0 derby defeat against Tranmere Rovers.
Phil Parkinson‘s men have to pick themselves up off the canvas and put in a statement performance at Grimsby Town, who are unbeaten in six despite struggling towards the bottom of the fourth tier.
Although still above MK Dons on goal difference in third position, they must get their promotion hopes back on track and see an improvement in their performances.
Ahead of their trip to Lincolnshire this weekend, though, concerns have been raised about their inconsistency with many expecting the Reds to blow the league away.

Wrexham must become consistent to get promotion
Wrexham’s major concern has been flagged by one statistic, as they are yet to go away to any of the top eight and win this term.
They’ve drawn against Barrow, Mansfield, AFC Wimbledon and MK Dons while losing to Stockport County and Walsall.
The only side they are yet to face away from home in the top eight is Crewe Alexandra and they travel there at the end of April.
Pundit Adrian Clarke has pointed to their form against the best sides as a cause for concern and highlighted their inconsistency as a reason to be fearful of their promotion chances.
“They’ve gone away to the top eight, zero wins,” Clarke said on the What the EFL? podcast. “It’s been a slightly underwhelming season, I know Wrexham might get automatic promotion, but they’ve not blown the league away in the manner that many expected.
“You know, they’ve got some great front options haven’t they, but it’s been too inconsistent. That win at Morecambe I was really impressed, but since then, very very average. They’ve got awkward games as well; Grimsby away is tough, Mansfield home is a 50/50 game and Donny are basically the most inform side in League Two. They’ve got to travel there I think on Easter Monday, so they’ve got to step up to the plate and they’ve got to do it quickly.”
A big few weeks to come
Following their trip to Grimsby this weekend, Wrexham play host to Mansfield Town on Good Friday.
Although not season-defining, whoever comes out on top in that match could gain the initiative to win promotion, or perhaps the title.
Mansfield are currently top of the league, five points above fourth-place MK Dons.
At this stage, their position in the automatic promotion places is safe, however, that could all change a week on Friday if Wrexham come out on top in that mouth-watering clash.
But first, attending to matters at Grimsby is most important, as they could drop points at Blundell Park and fall eight points behind the Stags before playing them.
