League Two promotion race heats up
We will start with league leaders Mansfield Town, who faced a tricky home game against Swindon Town on Saturday.
The Stags took the lead and were pegged back, took the lead and were pegged back again before finding a winner through Will Swan.
Having lost to Milton Keynes Dons in midweek, Mansfield will be delighted to have come through a testing game with another win.
Stockport County also had a tough day as they hosted Newport County at Edgeley Park.
County saw Paddy Madden squander a penalty and looked to be heading towards a 0-0 draw.
There was a late twist in the tale though as Madden popped up with an injury-time winner, volleying home with seconds left on the clock.
That result keeps County level with Wrexham on 66 points, three points behind Mansfield, but with a game in hand.
Milton Keynes Dons sit fourth, two points adrift of Wrexham and Stockport, after beating Salford City 3-1 at home.
The Dons – who have played a game more than the other promotion rivals – had to come from a goal down to secure the win, finding three goals in 25 first-half minutes to move out of sight.
The one slip-up from the automatic promotion chasers came from Crewe Alexandra as they were beaten 2-0 at Doncaster Rovers.
Crewe are now five points adrift of the top three and in need of a result against Sutton United on Tuesday before a crunch clash with MK Dons next weekend.
Wrexham would have been kicking themselves if they hadn’t matched Mansfield and Stockport’s result, so this win feels very, very important.
