Ferrell and Rudd being spotted at Wrexham games just goes to show that you need to keep your eyes peeled at all times these days – you just never know who is going to show up.
Ferrell’s visit meant a lot to Wrexham midfielder Elliot Lee, who has been speaking to Men in Blazers about his time at the club.
Lee has admitted that he grew up loving watching Ferrell’s films alongside his brother and ex-footballer Olly Lee.
Lee noted that the whole Wrexham squad knew how much he loved Ferrell, so didn’t even believe upon hearing that he had made the journey to Wrexham.
The attacking midfielder felt like a winner before even facing Wealdstone, simply because he had met a childhood hero.
“I remember, I was in the changing room and someone came in and was like ‘Will Ferrell’s here’ – I was like ‘nah, you’re lying’, because I think all the lads knew that I love him as well,” said Lee. “I would have to Step Brothers up there for me – me and my brother used to watch that all the time, it was just so funny, so when he’s walking in the changing room, I’m star-struck.”
“This is before a game and I’m star-struck, I’ve got the biggest smile on my face. I think it was Paddy who does the documentary, he was like ‘Ell, I’m getting him in here for you’, I was like ‘oh Paddy, please’, because I was getting treatment at the time in the physio room and Paddy managed to sneak a little picture of him talking to me. I’d already won the game before it had even kicked off because I’d met Will Ferrell and been chatting to him,” he added.
Imagine telling Wrexham fans or players five years ago that Will Ferrell was in the dressing room.
Most people would have wondered if Soccer Aid had moved to the Racecourse!
Instead, celebrities like Ferrell now want a piece of Wrexham and it seems that players like Lee are absolutely loving it.
