Wrexham are set to play host to the Welsh National Team in the upcoming international break, as Wales will face Gibraltar in a friendly at the Racecourse Ground next Tuesday.

Wales will be appearing at Wrexham for the first time since 2019, but Wrexham striker Paul Mullin will not be part of the occasion.

The 28-year-old is eligible to play for Wales, but whilst he is on the radar of manager Rob Page, he is yet to receive a call-up.

He has now missed out on the chance to feature for his country at his club’s ground, as Page has not included him in the latest squad despite injuries to Aaron Ramsey and Brennan Johnson.

Mullin not in Wales squad

The striker scored a stunning 45 goals in the National League last season, and has now recovered from injury and found his shooting boots again.

Mullin scored an excellent brace against Crewe Alexandra at the weekend, including an overhead kick, and looks back to his best at League Two level.

However, Wales have selected forwards Liam Cullen, Luke Harris, Kieffer Moore and Tom Bradshaw in the squad ahead of him.

Mullin’s omission from the squad does not come as a surprise at this stage, but there is every chance he joins the squad in the future.

Page has now admitted that Mullin is on standby for the squad, indicating that he is next in line for a call-up, and if there are any fresh absences before next Tuesday, he may be hopeful of entering the squad for the first time.

“We’ve had a few conversations about Paul, so the next step is he’s now on standby and he’s one step away. We monitor the Welsh players, and Paul is certainly one we’ve taken note of – and he deserves that. This is the next step of his development,” Page stated.

Who knows, Mullin could end up heading to the Euros if he continues his fine form in front of goal.
