Manchester City academy product, George Evans has suggested an FA Cup tie for Wrexham against his former tie would be a dream.

George Evans signed for Wrexham this summer and is already eyeing up another run in the FA Cup like last season.

This has come as Phil Parkinson’s side secured their place in the second round with a 2-1 win over Mansfield Town.

Following a two-year spell in the Championship with Millwall, Evans signed for the Reds on a free transfer.

Since signing for the club, he has gone on to make 13 appearances, playing his part in four clean sheets so far.

What has George Evans said?

After coming through the Manchester City academy, he only went to make one appearance for the Cityzens.

Since then he has played for many clubs including Reading, Derby County and Walsall, now finding himself with the Dragons.

With that being said, the prospect of playing against one of his former sides in the cup is exciting for Evans.

Speaking on that to Leader Live, he said: “I’d absolutely love it, cup runs are something you dream of.

“I’ve had a few decent runs in the past where we’ve played some big teams but not really kicked on, but if there was a time to do it, being here would be really special.”

Last season Wrexham managed to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup with four wins, a draw and a loss.

Despite not getting the better of a rattled Sheffield United side, the win over Coventry City lives long in the memory.

Wrexham fans will join Evans in dreaming of another FA Cup run and a tie against one of the big boys.

With a win over Mansfield, the Dragons are still up for the cup and with their name in the second-round pot, who knows what could happen?
