Wrexham may have clinched promotion in April, but Oldham Athletic kicked off June with a promotion of their own.
The domestic season is now coming to an end, but Wrexham have been done and dusted for weeks.
Wrexham’s 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic on 26 April saw Phil Parkinson secure a third straight promotion.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds funded yet another promotion party in Las Vegas, as Parkinson prepares for life in the Championship.
Sunday saw the National League play-off final take place at Wembley Stadium, weeks after Wrexham were able to get the party started.
It was all worth the wait for Oldham Athletic fans, as they came from behind to beat Southend United in extra time, booking a place in League Two.

Rob McElhenney message to Oldham Athletic owner
Kian Harratt was the Oldham hero, as his cross evaded the Southend backline and nestled in the back of the net.
James Norwood had slotted the Latics level just moments earlier, with the quick-fire double sparking wild celebrations.
Oldham will now return to the EFL and Wrexham co-owner McElhenney has sent his congratulations to the club and to owner Frank Rothwell.
‘So well deserved’ said McElhenney, before sending his love as ‘some guy you’ve never heard of’, joking about Rothwell’s previous comments.
Before Wrexham beat Oldham 3-0 in the FA Cup back in 2022, Rothwell told ITV that he had no idea who McElhenney or Reynolds were and hadn’t seen any of their films or TV shows.
“I don’t know who the hell they are,” said Rothwell.
“I know they’re film stars and all the girls go ‘whoo’ but I’ve never seen anything they’ve been in.
“These lads have bought a football club for as cheap as they possibly could do so they could tell their friends in Hollywood that they own a club. When they decide they’ve had enough of this and sell to another investor, it (Wrexham FC) will disappear. That won’t happen to Oldham,” he added.
McElhenney and Reynolds certainly took that well and donated £1,500 as Rothwell raised funds for Alzheimer’s Research UK in 2024.
There are no hard feelings and McElhenney taking the time to send a message after Oldham’s promotion is a classy touch from the Wrexham co-owner.
McElhenney certainly understands the magnitude of winning promotion out of the National League, and the jubilant scenes at Wembley on Sunday will have surely transported him back to that night against Boreham Wood.
Mike Fondop and Billy Waters win promotion
Oldham’s victory means two former Wrexham strikers will be in League Two next season.
Ex-Wrexham forward Mike Fondop started up top for the Latics, partnering goalscorer Joe Garner in attack.
The Cameroonian striker scored six goals in 26 games for Wrexham during the 2018-19 season and has been brilliant for Oldham.
Fondop hit 18 goals and eight assists this season and will now be given another crack at League Two action.
Billy Waters joined Oldham in January as his disappointing spell with Wrexham came to an end.
Waters was not involved on Sunday, though, as he remains out of action after picking up an injury in March.
Fondop and Waters can now look forward to League Two football next season and will be looking to make a big impact together after Oldham’s promotion.
