Wrexham have some decisions to make over their goalkeeping roster following the retirement of club hero Ben Foster, and if they do decide to replace him in the transfer market, there are plenty of options.
The veteran retired having admitted that his performances were not up to the required level, following a thrilling 5-5 draw with Swindon Town, and went back into retirement after previously returning to the game to help Wrexham’s promotion push last season.
Wrexham do have Mark Howard and Rob Lainton as internal replacements, whilst they have also signed a younger option in Luke McNicholas. However, they may be keen to upgrade on their roster, and there are a number of options they could consider.
Danny Ward
The Wales international came through the Wrexham academy, and was Leicester City’s number one for most of last season as the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League.
Whilst he was disappointing in the top flight, he is now third choice at Leicester, and may perhaps be tempted to drop down a few divisions to rediscover his form.
As someone who knows and admires the club, perhaps a shock return may get the best out of the 30-year-old, given that he is now set to barely feature for his current club.
Elliot Parish
At 33, Parish would not represent a long-term option, but he could be a safe pair of hands in League Two.
The Englishman is a free agent, having departed Scottish club St Johnstone, and has played for the likes of Dundee FC and Cardiff City.
He has experience in League Two, as well as at higher levels, and it could be an easy deal to complete if Wrexham are in a hurry to get an option through the door.
Matt Macey

The former Arsenal youngster is currently at Luton Town, although he is now the third choice option for the Premier League side.
He has previously played for Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, and the 28-year-old could be a long-term arrival should he be willing to drop down a few divisions.
Joe Lewis
The former Cardiff City goalkeeper has bags of experience, having made over 250 appearances for Aberdeen, as well as nearly 200 for Peterborough United.
With Blackpool and Fulham also on his CV, the 35-year-old free agent could arrive as a seasoned League Two veteran, and he may be willing to return to Wales to become a number one option again.
Again, he would not be a long-term solution, but he may still have enough quality to help Wrexham for at least a season if not more.
