Wrexham may not be making any signings on transfer deadline day but Phil Parkinson has now confirmed one departures late in the day.

Wrexham appear to be done and dusted in terms of incoming signings with the transfer deadline now imminent.

Phil Parkinson should be pleased with the January business with three new faces joining Wrexham.

Ryan Longman, Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez have all joined Wrexham to boost Parkinson’s promotion hopes.

Wrexham have also allowed a couple of players to go with both Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and James Jones joining Burton Albion.

The incoming business may be done but there have been couple more exits before the deadline.

Phil Parkinson confirms Wrexham exit for ‘outstanding’ player

Anthony Forde has been in a difficult spot at Wrexham for the last year.

Not registered for league action, Forde has almost become a forgotten man outside of playing in EFL Trophy games.

Forde was on the bench against Peterborough United in January with the registration window open, but being registered always looked unlikely.

The Irishman was set to become a free agent this summer but Wrexham have accelerated that process.

Wrexham have confirmed that Forde has now left the club and has become free agent as he seeks opportunities elsewhere.

The 31-year-old has been a popular figure despite his lack of playing time, with his effort and hard-working nature as well as his story on ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ endearing him to fans.

Parkinson hinted at a recall for Forde in October but it just hasn’t happened.

An exit just had to happen for the good of Forde’s career though and he has now departed the STōK Cae Ras.

Parkinson has told Wrexham’s official website that Forde has been an ‘outstanding’ professional for Wrexham and wished him the best for the future.

“I’d like to thank Fordey for his contributions since he’s been at the Club,” said Parkinson.

“He’s lived through a lot on and off the pitch during his time here, but he has been an outstanding professional and we really wish him all the best for the next stage of his career,” he added.

Wrexham teenager heading out on loan

Wrexham have also confirmed that attacker James Rainbird is heading on loan to Newtown until the end of the season.

Rainbird was handed a first professional contract in 2023 and saw his deal extended at the end of last term.

The youngster needs first-team exposure though and that just isn’t going to come at Wrexham right now.

Rainbird has therefore joined Newtown, who sit fifth in the Cymru Premier right now.

Rainbird will now join forces with former Wrexham duo Rob Evans and Jason Oswell as he looks to kick on and develop before returning to Wrexham this summer.
