Former Wrexham man, Frank Sinclair has suggested that the Reds should sign controversial striker, Billy Sharp following his release from LA Galaxy.
Cast your mind back to January and February, after beating Coventry City, Wrexham faced Sheffield United in the FA Cup.
The first game between the sides saw Phil Parkinson’s side secure a draw as the Blades scored a late equaliser.
After the 3-3 draw, the Reds travelled to Bramall Lane and it was a draw going into the 90th minute. 94th and 96th-minute goals for United helped to secure their place in the next round and dump out Wrexham.
Following the full-time whistle, Blades’ captain, Billy Sharp celebrated in front of the Reds fans much to the disdain of Parkinson.

With this happening, it is safe to say Sharp isn’t exactly the most popular figure around The Racecourse.
What has Frank Sinclair said about Billy Sharp?
Frank Sinclair played for Wrexham between 2009 and 2011, making 57 appearances for the Reds. He was a key figure as they lost in the play-off semi-finals, to Luton Town.
The Jamaican international is best known for his spells with Chelsea and Leicester City. Between the two he made nearly 350 appearances in 14 years.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sinclair has suggested that his former side should sign Sharp on a free transfer.
On that, he said, “Wrexham have had back-and-forths with Billy Sharp and he’s obviously back in England looking for a new club.
“I’m sure there’s going to be many takers, even at the age he is now. But can you imagine if Billy Sharp ends up going to Wrexham and scores a load of goals to get them promoted? They’d soon be able to get over the problem they’ve had previously!”
It must be said that this would go a long way to mend the relationship between fans and player. With that being said, his signing would definitely cause some controversy amongst the fanbase. Given his behaviour last time the clubs met, it would be an interesting signing to make.
Sinclair himself probably hasn’t done himself many favours with Reds fans. This is as he said: “The situation was a weird one, because Billy Sharp has probably done more in his career than Wrexham have done in their history for a long time.”
The situation at Bramall Lane was to do with his childish behaviour and attitude in his post-match interview.
Although he has plenty of pedigree, this signing feels very unlikely and an unnecessary risk.
