Wrexham dropped yet more points in their tough start to life in League Two as they drew with Barrow, and with less than a week remaining in the transfer window, it is unclear whether there will be any more incomings.
Phil Parkinson’s side have not been heavily active in the transfer window, having recruited just two first-team players in James McClean and Will Boyle, whilst also losing Ben Foster following his sudden retirement, and Paul Mullin to a long-term injury.
It was anticipated that Wrexham would be busy in the window following their promotion back to the Football League, and Parkinson has now given an update on what to expect in the final few days of the transfer window.
“We have got to make sure that we keep focusing on the ones we have got and keep improving everybody,” he told The Leader.
“If someone comes in, that is a bonus; we are not hanging on that we are going to bring players in but it is a bonus if that happens and if we need to, we will act.
“We are looking at a couple of things but at this stage of the transfer window, you are very limited to options.
“We are in talks with players in different positions but for me, the most important thing is that some of our players are really starting to come into form.”
Raising the level
Wrexham have enjoyed life under owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, and confidence was high heading into the season.
The club started the season as favourites for promotion, having torn up the National League in style, but the step-up in level has been noticeable, and it has not been an easy adaptation.

Recruitments are perhaps necessary, particularly in defence, having conceded 14 goals in the opening five league games, but with 14 goals scored, the attack seems to be coping well even without Mullin, as the second-highest scorers in the division.
Wrexham’s lofty ambitions may accelerate any further business they want to do, with the club perhaps realising how difficult back to back promotions may be to pull off.
