Wrexham are potentially looking into a deal for an experienced Championship striker ahead of January.
Wrexham have been tipped to bolster their ranks in next month’s transfer window as they vie for a second promotion in as many seasons.
Owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds could make some new signings and one potential acquisition for the Dragons could be experienced Football League striker Lee Gregory.
An emerging report from The Sheffield Star has revealed that the 35-year-old Sheffield Wednesday man has number of suitors ahead of January, with one of them being ‘an ambitious League Two club’.
Although Wrexham aren’t named, it seems fairly probable that Wrexham could be the team in question.
Lee Gregory in the English Football League
Gregory made his name in the non-league before getting his big break with Millwall in 2014.
He went on to make 238 career appearances for the Lions, scoring 76 goals and scoring 17 League One goals in the club’s promotion-winning 2016/17 season.
Gregory has also represented Stoke City and Derby County but has spent the last two-and-a-half years at Sheffield Wednesday where he’s scored 29 goals in 101 total appearances.
Throughout his career, Gregory has 147 goals to his name in 441 total outings, with an impressive 50 assists to his name as well (Transfermarkt).

Would this be a good signing for Wrexham?
Wrexham are making a nice habit of signing players like Gregory who have bags of Football League experience and pedigree; the likes of Elliot Lee, Will Boyle, and James McClean to name a few.
And it’s what’s helped to make Wrexham such a force in League Two this season and the addition of such a proven scorer in Gregory would no doubt bolster their promotion hopes.
He’s fallen out of favour at Sheffield Wednesday this time round, but just last season he scored 11 in League One, and 17 in the season before that.
Phil Parkinson has a few options to deploy up front in names like Steven Fletcher, Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, and Sam Dalby, but none of which has really hit the ground running this season.
Mullin has seven goals to his name but Lee is the current top scorer, so bringing in a prolific striker to take the strain off Lee would be a huge plus.
And it would enable Parkinson to rotate his options and avoid further injuries to names like Fletcher, adding to what is already a potent Wrexham attack.
