Wrexham had a busy end to the transfer window, bringing two signings in on deadline day to help strengthen Phil Parkinson’s squad.

Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has joined on loan from Arsenal, helping to replace the retired Ben Foster, whilst George Evans joined from Millwall for free following the mutual termination of his contract.

That brings Wrexham’s incomings to a close, with the pair joining Luke McNicholas, James McClean and Will Boyle as summer arrivals, with the club not spending as heavily as anticipated under owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Both deals were completed earlier today, with Wrexham getting involved in the deadline day flurry for new arrivals to help boost the side, after a difficult start to the season.

The deadline-day deals

Okonkwo, 21, is highly rated at Arsenal, and with his contract expiring at the end of the season, there is a chance that he could make his stay permanent if he impresses.

The Nigerian goalkeeper played on loan at Crewe Alexandra and SK Sturm Graz last season, making 44 appearances across both clubs and even winning the Austrian Cup.

He is a young player with a fair amount of experience under his belt already, and he has the quality to step in as the club’s number-one option.

Evans, 28, made 13 appearances for Millwall last season, and typically operates as a defensive midfielder.

With 147 Championship appearances to his name, he is a player who comes with a lot of experience at a higher level, and resembles another coup for Wrexham.

Evans has also played for Reading and Derby County amongst others, having come through the academy at Manchester City.

Both players will help strengthen the team, who will hope to start picking up more points starting with the upcoming trip to Tranmere Rovers.
