Wrexham are still yet to win in League Two as they came away with a point at AFC Wimbledon, but manager Phil Parkinson is confident in his squad even if there are no further transfers.

The Red Dragons have been surprisingly quiet in the summer window, making just three signings, and losing striker Paul Mullin to injury has meant that further attacking additions may be necessary.

Speaking to The Leader following the draw, Parkinson stated that whilst additions would be welcomed, he is confident that his squad have enough quality to succeed in the fourth division this season.

“We are looking,” Parkinson stated about transfers.

“If something happens, great, it it doesn’t we will work with what we have got.

“I am happy to concentrate with the players we have got. We have got some good players and we have got more to come from a lot of the players.”

Are Wrexham taking a big risk?

It would be a big surprise if Wrexham ended the window without further signings. Owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have made the club one of the strongest financially in the entire division, and ambitious arrivals saw them achieve promotion in style.

Mullin’s injury really leaves a hole upfront, and another forward is perhaps needed if Wrexham want to give themselves the best chance of promotion.

There have been links with some forwards including Kabongo Tshimanga, and the club could even turn to the free agent market for a solution, but it is clear that if they do not sign a forward, they risk ruining their chance of back to back promotions despite the quality they have elsewhere in the squad.

Parkinson will hope that his side can find their winning formula again, with a loss and a draw so far in their return to the Football League, and it may require some additional quality to cope with the step up in division.
