The Red Dragons sealed their long-awaited return to the Football League after 15 years away as the 2022/23 National League champions in April. Now, Wrexham AFC’s Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds will hope the trophy is just the start for the Welsh team.

Will Boyle – Wrexham AFC confirmed the 27-year-old as their first signing of the summer on July 13 from Huddersfield Town. The defender joined the club on a three-year contract. The Yorkshire Post cited rival interest from Stockport County, Fleetwood Town and Bristol Rovers.
James McClean – Wrexham AFC made a statement signing on August 4 as the 34-year-old joined from Wigan Athletic. The Red Dragons paid the Latics £250k for the 100-cap Republic of Ireland midfielder. He signed a one-year deal after 46 Championship matches in 2022/23.
Luke McNicholas – Wrexham AFC confirmed the loan signing of the 23-year-old on August 11. The goalkeeper switched to the Racecourse Ground from the League of Ireland Premier Division side, Sligo Rovers. The Red Dragons retain an option to buy the stopper in January.
Liam Hall – Wrexham AFC sealed the arrival of the 18-year-old on an initial one-year deal on August 18. The goalkeeper joined the Red Dragons from Bradford Park Avenue, for whom he kept two clean sheets against the Red Dragon’s Under-19s last term as a regular at the level.

Scott Butler – Nantwich Town secured the signing of the 20-year-old on loan from Wrexham AFC on August 18. The centre-half joined the Pitching In Northern Premier League West side until January. He had returned to Wrexham in October after a move to Swansea City in 2019.

Ryan Austin – Wrexham AFC confirmed their released and retained list for the 2023/24 term on May 15. The Red Dragons have axed a host of players including Austin, who departed the Racecourse Ground and agreed to terms with Caernarfon Town to play in the Cymru Premier.
Louis Lloyd – Caernarfon Town also agreed to terms with Lloyd after Wrexham AFC released the 19-year-old. The centre-forward spent just one season with the Red Dragons in 2022/23.

Harry Lennon – Wrexham AFC noted in their released and retained list that the defender had confirmed his plans to retire. The 28-year-old called time on his career after a raft of injuries.
Kai Calderbank-Park – The 22-year-old goalkeeper will leave Wrexham AFC at the end of his contract on June 30. He spent just a season at the Racecourse upon leaving Connah’s Quay.
Malik Dijksteel – Parkinson has elected against retaining the 21-year-old forward who joined Wrexham AFC this March. The Red Dragons had signed the Dutchman from Whitby for their reserves. But the Racecourse Ground natives only signed Dijksteel on a short-term contract.
Reece Hall-Johnson – Wrexham AFC have released the 28-year-old after three seasons with the club. The full-back had moved to North Wales in August 2020 from Northampton Town and enjoyed 70 appearances with 13 goals. But he fell heavily out of favour during 2022/23.
Jake Hyde – The Red Dragons have released the veteran striker after two years at the club. Wrexham AFC signed the 33-year-old from Halifax Town in July 2021 but would send him on loan to Southend United for the 2022/23 term. Hyde would sign for Yeovil Town on June 14.
Rory Watson – Parkinson has axed the former Hull City prospect after just one season at the Racecourse ground. Wrexham AFC signed the goalkeeper from Scunthorpe United in August 2022. But the 27-year-old failed to make a single appearance during his time in North Wales.

Ben Foster – The 40-year-old announced his retirement from professional football on August 21. He had come out of retirement in March to sign for Wrexham and helped the club secure promotion into League Two. The goalkeeper played 12 times in his second spell at Wrexham.

Tom Jenkins – The Red Dragons have also axed some of Wrexham AFC’s academy, including the 19-year-old. Jenkins leaves the club following a loan spell with Gresford Athletic in 2023.
Dan Jones – Yet another product of Wrexham AFC’s youth teams has left the Red Dragons in the 19-year-old. It will be the forward’s first time playing for a club other than Wrexham AFC.
Will Mountfield – Another gem from Wrexham AFC’s academy has departed the Racecourse Ground in the 18-year-old. The Birkenhead-born midfielder was a regular for their reserves.
