Wrexham take on Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, and the Owls have now received a favour from Cardiff City ahead of the game.

Wrexham are back in Championship action once again this weekend, taking on Sheffield Wednesday at the STōK Cae Ras.

Phil Parkinson saw Wrexham lose 3-2 to West Bromwich Albion last weekend, meaning he has suffered two narrow defeats to start the Championship season.

Home comforts have been a real factor throughout Parkinson’s reign as Wrexham boss, and he will be chasing a response this weekend.

Beleaguered Sheffield Wednesday head into town this weekend, with the Owls looking to get their first point on the board.

Cardiff City agree Sheffield Wednesday deal ahead of Wrexham clash

Wednesday’s summer has been dominated by financial woes, players walking away from the club over unpaid wages and protests against owner Dejphon Chansiri.

There is no end in sight in terms of Chansiri’s reign, and Wednesday have been dealt a major blow ahead of facing Wrexham.

First-choice stopper Pierce Charles has picked up an injury and will now miss the trip to North Wales.

Wednesday have explored an emergency signing to deputise for Charles, and they have received a favour from Cardiff City.

Wrexham’s Welsh rivals have agreed to send American goalkeeper Ethan Horvath to Wednesday on a temporary basis, as reported by The Sheffield Star’s Joe Crann.

Former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Horvath played 17 times for Cardiff last season and may be familiar to some Wrexham fans in the United States.

Horvath has never played in Major League Soccer, but has picked up 10 caps for the United States Men’s National Team.

Horvath will now be thrown into the firing line against Wrexham as Wednesday look to spring a surprise on the road.

Wrexham fans understand Wednesday’s pain

Wrexham fans will stand in solidarity with Wednesday supporters this weekend.

Owls fans are running a ‘black and gold until it’s sold’ campaign, vowing to wear black and gold shirts until Chansiri leaves the club.

Wrexham fans are joining in, wearing last season’s gold third shirt from the League One promotion campaign to support Wednesday’s cause.

If any fanbase understands the pain of ownership nightmares, it’s Wrexham.

We would rather not even mention the name of Alex Hamilton, but that feeling from Wrexham supporters is very similar to how Wednesday fans now feel about Chansiri.

Phil Parkinson will be focused on three points this weekend, especially as Wednesday throw in an emergency goalkeeper, but Wrexham fans will also lend some support and appreciate the battle Owls supporters are now fighting.
