Accrington Stanley manager John Coleman has revealed why Wrexham will want to get one over his side even more now.
Wrexham are entering a pivotal period of their season and performances must improve for them to secure automatic promotion.
The Reds stole a last-gasp point against Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night thanks to a Paul Mullin penalty and that extended their run to just two wins in nine matches.
Phil Parkinson’s side faced a gruelling five away matches in February and despite struggling on their travels, with their only win in that sequence coming against Sutton United, it’s a different story at the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham have only dropped 10 points on home soil all season, winning 12 of their 16 matches and losing just twice.
In front of their home supporters, the Welsh side thrive on grabbing the impetus in a match and dominating the ball as opposed to playing on the counterattack.
On Saturday, they host an Accrington Stanley side that is 16th in the away form table and have lost their last two matches.
Despite the odds being stacked against them securing a victory, manager John Coleman has said why Wrexham will want to secure the three points even more now.

In November, Accrington were the team who ended Wrexham’s 11-match unbeaten run in all competitions as goals from Tommy Leigh and Rosaire Longelo secured a shock 2-0 victory.
Coleman believes that defeat last year will still be hanging over the supporters, players and staff as it came at a time when the Reds were flying and now they are going through a rough patch.
“We played them when they were in the middle of that feel-good factor when they were winning quite a lot and I think they felt slighted that they were beaten by little Accrington Stanley,” Coleman told Stanley’s official YouTube channel.
“Now we’ve proven throughout the last 12 to 15 years that we’re no longer little Accrington Stanley and we might be in terms of monetary value and what things we can have. But we live within our means, we’re rich in spirit and we’ve proven time and time again that we’re not the little club that people think of us.
“It’s not a shock when we beat so called bigger teams. I think in the midst of that we’ve played them and beat them so they will still be hanging over this game, that’ll still be hanging over their fans. I think their players will want to win for that reason.”
Wrexham need to be wary of Accrington
Perhaps Coleman is right in saying that the remnants of that defeat in November will still be on the player’s minds, but Wrexham are a completely different team at home.
For whatever reason, the comfort of playing in front of their supporters gets the best out of their players and they will be hoping to continue their impressive home record tomorrow afternoon.
That said, if there was ever a time for Stanley to pull off an upset, it would be now.
Wrexham have seen their results in recent weeks take a turn for the worse and the pressure is on them to secure an important three points.
In front of a packed Racecourse Ground, the Reds will be expected to bounce back from their recent hardships, but the visitors certainly won’t make it easy for them.
