Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has admitted that defender Eoghan O’Connell’s injury does not look good.
Parkinson took his side on the road again on Tuesday night, travelling to take on a struggling Forest Green Rovers side.
Wrexham’s midweek away trips have become a common occurrence in recent weeks but this was probably the most frustrating of the lot.
Forest Green took an early lead through Emmanuel Osadebe, leaving Wrexham to try and break down a team fighting for their lives.
The goal did eventually come as Paul Mullin bagged a last-gasp penalty to salvage a 1-1 draw from the jaws of defeat.
This wasn’t vintage Wrexham by any stretch of the imagination and there is now a new injury for Parkinson to deal with for the run-in…
Phil Parkinson on Eoghan O’Connell injury
Parkinson is already dealing with injury problems with midfielders George Evans and James Jones both out of action and their returns are unknown.
Another player went down on Tuesday night as defender Eoghan O’Connell picked up an injury.
O’Connell suffered a calf problem with The Athletic’s Richard Sutcliffe adding that he ‘looked distraught’ upon being substituted.
Parkinson was asked about O’Connell’s injury after the final whistle and told Wrexham’s official YouTube channel that it ‘doesn’t look good’.
Parkinson couldn’t say too much ahead of a scan on Wednesday but clearly feels that O’Connell will be missing some time.

“It doesn’t look good for us,” said Parkinson. “But obviously, like all injuries, they need to be assessed with a scan and that’s what we’ll do tomorrow,” he added.
This really isn’t what Wrexham needed right now with O’Connell in decent form of late.
The 28-year-old will hope that his season isn’t over and Wrexham must now plug on with the other defensive options at Parkinson’s disposal.
Will Boyle will be back from suspension this weekend whilst the likes of Aaron Hayden, Jordan Tunnicliffe and Ben Tozer will be in the mix to join Max Cleworth in the back line.
Wrexham do still have options but losing O’Connell will feel like a major blow after a rather frustrating evening on the road.
