Phil Parkinson highlights Wrexham’s strength in the duels in win over Northampton
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel post-match, Phil Parkinson has praised side’s ‘professional’ performance against Northampton and highlighted their dominance in the duels as key to the win.
Parkinson stated: “I felt we were strong in all of the duels all over the pitch in that early exchanges in the game and we had to be to build the performance from those firsts and seconds.”
The Wrexham boss then went on to praise a number of different aspects of his team’s performance at The Sixfields Stadium.
Parkinson explained: “Always felt in control and I thought the concentration ad organisation on the set plays was brilliant today and it had to be from Pinnock’s long throw.”
Ollie Rathbone continues to impress in Wrexham midfield
Having scored against Birmingham and Stevenage in recent games and assisting Matty James in the previous win over Crawley, Rathbone is really making an impression on Parkinson’s side.
The midfielder not only found the back of the net once again but was instrumental in Wrexham’s win with his tenacity in the press and quality on the ball when he won it back.

Rathbone has made 31 appearances in all competitions so far this season, contributing four goals and two assists to the cause.
He is becoming an integral part of the Red Dragons side and Parkinson can only hope that he continues his form as Wrexham gun for promotion to the Championship.
