Wrexham are back in action on Tuesday night, taking on Port Vale in the EFL Trophy as Phil Parkinson chases a spot at Wembley.

Wrexham returned to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, beating Crawley Town 2-1 thanks to Elliot Lee’s last-gasp winner.

Phil Parkinson wanted a response after defeat against Stevenage last Tuesday night.

It’s another midweek clash for Wrexham tonight though as Parkinson takes on Port Vale in the EFL Trophy.

Wrexham’s trip to Port Vale was postponed in January due to adverse weather conditions but will now finally take place tonight.

Parkinson has made changes to his starting lineup this evening, with Wrexham looking to move another step closer to a Wembley final.

Wrexham starting lineup

Wrexham line up with Arthur Okonkwo in goal as he turns having been benched against Crawley Town.

Parkinson has admitted a mistake over Okonkwo, bringing him back into first-team action too soon after injury.

Okonkwo is given a chance to shine tonight though and he will play behind a back three of Max Cleworth, Dan Scarr and Tom O’Connor.

That back line struggled against Stevenage a week ago and now has a chance to hit back.

Andy Cannon and George Evans start in midfield with Elliot Lee called upon to bring some attacking threat.

The big news comes on the right flank as new signing Ryan Longman lines up as Wrexham’s right wing back.

Sebastian Revan starts on the left side with Harry Ashfield supporting Modou Faal in attack.

Luke McNicholas makes the Wrexham bench after his return from Rochdale, joining Lewis Brunt, Jacob Mendy, Ryan Barnett, George Dobson, Sam Smith and Ollie Palmer.

Chances for fringe players to shine

We touched on Okonkwo’s situation with the goalkeeper looking to recapture his best form.

There are other players in the Wrexham XI who need to step up with a big performance tonight though.

Dan Scarr didn’t really take his chance in the Wrexham lineup after replacing Eoghan O’Connell.

Andy Cannon’s role has reduced over the season but this a real chance to show that he can still make an impact in the Wrexham midfield.

George Evans has struggled with injuries this season but can now stake a claim for League One action whilst Sebastian Revan will be desperate to shine given his lack of league starts.

Youngsters Modou Faal and Harry Ashfield should have bright futures at Wrexham and can showcase their talents against Port Vale.

Wrexham’s lineup is still strong but this clash with League Two Port Vale should be a great opportunity to shine.
