Wrexham kept a third straight clean sheet as Phil Parkinson picked up another crucial win, this time beating Rotherham United 1-0.
Wrexham suffered heartbreak against Peterborough United in February, losing in the semi-finals of the EFL Trophy.
Phil Parkinson will have wanted a big response after that defeat with Wrexham regularly hitting back after defeats.
The response has been strong with Wrexham now taking seven points from three League One games since that disappointment.
Wrexham beat Rotherham United 1-0 on Saturday afternoon with Sam Smith bagging the only goal of the game.
Three clean sheets in a row is exactly how Parkinson would have wanted Wrexham to respond after that Peterborough defeat, leaving Wrexham right on Wycombe Wanderers’ shoulder.
One moment left Phil Parkinson frustrated
Parkinson will be delighted with that defensive record and Eoghan O’Connell was key to Wrexham’s display at the back.
There was also an exceptional save from Arthur Okonkwo just before half time to keep Rotherham at bay.
Joe Powell burst through midfield before crossing for Mallik Wilks, who seemed destined to score.
Wilks saw Okonkwo keeps his header out though, preserving Wrexham’s clean sheet in superb fashion.
Okonkwo also made a superb save to deny Aaron Collins last week as Wrexham drew 0-0 with Bolton.
Speaking on Wrexham Matchday Live, boss Parkinson praised Okonkwo for an ‘outstanding’ save against Rotherham.
Parkinson did though highlight that he was disappointed with his Wrexham players for not closing Powell down quickly enough.
Parkinson made that message abundantly clear in his half-time team talk, such was his frustration that Rotherham even created that chance.
“Defensively we were really good apart from that one header in the first half where Arthur has made an outstanding save,” said Parkinson.
“It was a brilliant save and he pulled off a save against Bolton close to the end, which was top class, absolute top class.
“I said to the lads at half time, I was disappointed in that moment because Powell burst through us and we didn’t get after him quick enough and we know he’s got great quality with his crossing, but when Arthur’s called upon – absolutely brilliant,” he added.
Arthur Okonkwo getting back to his best
Okonkwo suffered a wrist injury in November and he only made his return to action for Wrexham in January.
The former Arsenal talent would probably admit that he wasn’t at his best upon returning to the first team.
Okonkwo was dropped by Parkinson as a result, leaving him on the bench as veteran Mark Howard started games.
That spell out of the team appears to have helped with Bolton boss Steven Schumacher hailing Okonkwo just last week.
Okonkwo is now making quality saves again and with three clean sheets in a row to his name, he appears to be getting back to his very best.
