Wrexham co-owner, Ryan Reynolds has reacted after the Reds’ six-goal thrashing of Morecambe at The Racecourse.
Following a disappointing defeat to Accrington Stanley, it was vital that Wrexham bounced back as soon as possible.
It is safe to say Phil Parkinson’s side did that and did it in some style as they put six past a decent Morecambe outfit.
A hattrick from Paul Mullin was added two by Jacob Mendy’s second of the season and a James Jones wonder strike. The scoring was opened by a Joel Senior own goal, forced by the superb Andy Cannon.
With the loss last time out, this result was imperative. Not only a good three points but a message to the rest of the league. The win saw the Reds move into second place but they do have a game advantage on Mansfield and Crewe below.
It was important that Wrexham bounced back and didn’t let the defeat haunt them. They did that, much to the delight of their owners who gave their reaction.
What has Ryan Reynolds said?
The owners do love the club and that is clear for everyone to see. Looking at Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s match reaction will show that. The latter posted a message in support of Mullin after his hattrick against the Shrimps.
Reynolds posted to his Instagram story with an image posted by the official Wrexham account. Accompanying this was a message saying: “Not furious with that result.”
It is safe to assume that this will have reached a wide-ranging audience given the 50 million followers that he has. This kind of coverage of the Reds has seen the worldwide audience grow for the club, especially in the States.
It would be hard for anybody to pick holes in that performance and for anyone to be ‘furious’ to say the least. With six goals, a hattrick and two world-class goals it was a great overall performance.
The Reds had 61% possession, 19 shots and nearly double their opponent’s total passes with 454 passes and 83% accuracy.
On the day it was exactly what Wrexham needed and what the fans at The Racecourse wanted to see. Last time out was disappointing and Parkinson’s side needed to hit their stride once again. They did that and then some. A perfect performance and hopefully it sparks another run of excellent form.
