Steven Fletcher has compared one Wrexham player to Lionel Messi after they beat Northampton Town over the weekend.
After a patchy spell in the league, the Red Dragons have finally found some form once more.
They have now won four in a row in all competitions and their last two in League One to ensure they remain firmly in the battle for automatic promotion.
Wrexham beat Northampton Town 2-0 on February 15th thanks to a first-ever club goal from Sam Smith and another effort from Ollie Rathbone.
A number of players impressed over the course of the 90 minutes for the Welsh side but none more so than their second goalscorer on the day.
Wrexham fans were in awe of Rathbone after the midfielder put in another excellent shift against Northampton.

Steven Fletcher compares Ollie Rathbone to Lionel Messi
The Englishman, signed over the summer in what was a record deal at the time, now has four goals and two assists in 25 League One appearances this term.
Now, following the tie, Steven Fletcher, who started on the bench, has sent a message to Rathbone post-match.
Taking to his Instagram story, the Scotsman posted an image of his teammate celebrating the second goal against Northampton alongside a photo of Lionel Messi in a similar pose.
For the caption of the story, he wrote: “Everything you have been saying makes sense now,” while tagging the midfielder’s Instagram handle.

Phil Parkinson verdict on Wrexham win over Northampton Town
Wrexham moved to within a point of Wycombe Wanderers after the match, though the latter still had a game to play this weekend.
Regardless, it was a very positive showing from the Hollywood-owned club, especially given they have struggled on the road in 2024/25.
On the win, Parkinson said: “We won headers, second balls and built a platform from that to go and play some great football and get the lead.
“I’m obviously pleased with the professionalism of the group today.”
“I’m very pleased for Sam. When you come to a new club you want to get that goal and get off and running. His all-round play was excellent as well.”
