Wrexham fans have been waiting patiently this evening with the clash against Stevenage under threat of being postponed.

It isn’t often that you hear of two games being postponed in one day.

Earlier on Tuesday, Wrexham confirmed that the upcoming home game against Lincoln City had been postponed.

The Imps have received enough international call-ups to request a postponement and the EFL have approved that request.

Wrexham will at least have the international break off this time, having played against Shrewsbury Town during the last break.

With that postponement now confirmed, Wrexham fans have been left fearing the status of tonight’s game against Stevenage.

Stevenage v Wrexham pitch inspection

Wrexham have made another long trip having travelled down to face Stevenage in League One.

Saturday’s journey to face Leyton Orient was long enough but Wrexham have been on the road once again on Tuesday.

The problem is that there has been a major downpour in Stevenage today with rain continuing throughout the afternoon.

Those adverse weather conditions have left Stevenage v Wrexham in danger of being postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Stevenage confirmed a pitch inspection would take place at 5:30pm with most travelling Wrexham fans either already in Hertfordshire or just arriving.

That pitch inspection has now taken place and the officials have decided to go ahead with the game – on one condition.

The rain has subsided a little and the officials will give the game the go ahead as long as there is no more heavy rainfall ahead of the game.

Wrexham fans no doubt relieved

We have all been there at some point.

You travel across many, many miles to go and watch a game and it ends up being called off two hours before kick off.

Wrexham fans will have feared the worst when Stevenage announced a pitch inspection but it appears that the green light has arrived for the game to take place.

This is a considerable journey for Wrexham fans and turning around to go straight back home would have been a bitter disappointment.

Let’s just hope that Wrexham can now give those travelling fans a result and a performance to remember – and that the rain stays away.
