Wrexham visited Lincoln’s Sincil Bank Stadium in their final game of a long but successful season.

Phil Parkinson made just one change to the side that beat Charlton as Elliot Lee replaced the injured Jay Rodriguez and Wrexham fans were furious Paul Mullin missed out once again.

Lincoln had the better of the first half but just after half time Wrexham came alive as Ryan Longman’s superb cross was met by Lee.

Longman then doubled the lead on the hour mark as he rifled a shot into the far corner as the ball fell to him inside the box. The Red Dragons signed off their season in style

Wrexham secured another win and another clean sheet, here are the Wrexham winners and losers from their final League One clash of the season.

Three winners from Wrexham’s clash with Lincoln

Arthur Okonkwo

Arthur Okonkwo was battling for his Wrexham place following his wrist injury midway through the campaign but has shown why he is set to star for the club in the second tier next season.

His 19th clean sheet of the season has meant he has matched Wrexham’s 1974 EFL record of the most during a campaign by a goalkeeper.

Okonkwo was the busier of the two keepers during the game but his commanding presence and ability to make saves look easy meant the door was shut once again for the opposition.

Elliot Lee

Back in the side playing just off Sam Smith and after a quiet start to the game, Lee produced what Wrexham fans have become accustomed to.

He ghosted into the penalty area late and met Longman’s exquisite cross to give his side the lead and put him as the outright top scorer for the club this season.

Ryan Longman

What a signing Longman has been. Arrived in January and had to be patient to be given his chance in the starting eleven, some fans were not sure of his best position.

However, he has made the right wing-back spot his own and crowned an excellent second half of the season with a goal and an assist.

His wonderful cross opened up the game when Lee dispatched it and then Longman clinically fired home from inside the area to double the lead and secure the points on the final day.

Two losers from Wrexham’s clash with Lincoln

George Dobson

George Dobson has been outstanding in recent weeks for Wrexham in the midfield but perhaps the celebrations of the last week caught up with the 27-year-old.

He was caught in possession just 10 seconds into the game and it set the trend for a sluggish performance where his usual care with the ball was lacking.

A well-deserved rest now awaits Dobson and he will be eager to come back firing in pre-season and to seize his first chance to make his mark in the Championship.

Phil Parkinson

It is extremely difficult to level any sort of criticism towards the Wrexham boss given his experience and the feat of achieving a remarkable three successive promotions.

Some might say there is no room for sentiment in football and that may be true however, if this was the last chance for fans to say farewell to the likes of Mullin and Ollie Palmer, it is devastating they weren’t involved.

The injury to Rodriguez, the fact that promotion was already secured and fans were in a party atmosphere meant it was the perfect game to give some Wrexham heroes one last hurrah.

Jacob Mendy deserved a farewell and there are a number of Red Dragons that may not be seen in the red shirt again after a summer transfer window where the pack will no doubt be shuffled significantly.
