Wrexham and West Brom went head-to-head in a Championship fixture on August 16.

In a big boost to the Red Dragons, Kieffer Moore returned against West Brom despite it being thought he would be out injured for longer than seven days.

Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds attended the game at the Racecourse, which was Wrexham’s first at home in the Championship for 43 years.

It did not get off to a great start, though, with Isaac Price making it 1-0 to West Brom with 20 minutes gone.

Phil Parkinson’s side grew into the game, however, with Lewis O’Brien picking up the ball in the box and firing the home side back on level terms just before half-time.

Wrexham fans on Lewis O’Brien vs West Brom

Wrexham fans have since had much to say about O’Brien during and following the clash with Ryan Mason’s side on social media.

Nottingham Forest fans also took to X/Twitter to show their love for their former player.

One fan wrote: “From a Forest fan, we’re really pleased for you, and glad he’s got his goal. Good luck for the season.”

A second tweeted: “Proper baller this lad.”

“What a player,” wrote another Nottingham Forest supporter.

A fourth fan added: “Some playaaaa.”

Another stated: “Absolutely brilliant from Lewis O’Brien! He levels it for Wrexham with a classy left-footed strike to the top corner—pure quality and composure from the centre of the box. Assisted by James McClean. What a way to step up!”

“Congrats Lewis! No hesitation won the day,” wrote a sixth.

Wrexham may need more players like Lewis O’Brien

O’Brien signed from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer in a major deal.

He’s since taken up the Ollie Rathbone role in midfield, pushing forward at every opportunity and pressing very well.

It’s clear he is a Championship-quality player and will be key to any success Wrexham have this season.

But after shipping three goals at home to the Baggies, it may be a clear sign to Rob and Ryan, who watched on, that a lot more work needs to be done this summer.
