Wrexham will now turn their attention to a home clash against Crawley Town after losing to Birmingham City at St Andrews.
Wrexham tasted their first league defeat of the campaign on Monday night as Birmingham City – inspired by a Jay Stansfield double – secured a 3-1 win.
Phil Parkinson was pleased with the ‘excellent’ start his side made to the match but after Jack Marriott’s early opener, they couldn’t maintain the levels and they were battered by wave after wave of attacks.
Parkinson can have no complaints over the scoreline as they were just outclassed by a Birmingham side who spent huge money in the transfer window.
Nonetheless, it’s still been a brilliant start to the season for Wrexham, who sit top of the League One table heading into their home match against Crawley Town.

Eoghan O’Connell could get dropped for Dan Scarr vs Crawley Town
Parkinson will consider making changes to his starting XI for the visit of Crawley, perhaps dropping Ollie Rathbone for Andy Cannon and Ollie Palmer for Steven Fletcher.
However, Wrexham expert Rich Fay believes Parkinson could make another surprise change to the starting XI, explaining why Eoghan O’Connell could be dropped for summer signing Dan Scarr.

Speaking on the Rob Ryan Red podcast, Fay said: “I think O’Connell’s have maybe a little bit of burnout because he’s been so integral, played so much football. We need the competition for places. It still feels like O’Connell sort of starts every game.
“He’s, like I said, maybe our underappreciated player. Put that in a 4-4-2 preview for the season. He’s our most underrated player.
“But Dan Scarr, I’ve only ever watched him in that Sheffield United game. I was impressed with the sort of no-nonsense approach. I’m just wondering if there comes a time where you say, look, give him a go in a meaningful match because he deserves a fair crack of the whip.”

Should Dan Scarr start for Wrexham vs Crawley?
O’Connell was a shining light for Wrexham in their loss to Birmingham City but as Fay alluded to, giving the Irishman a rest could do him the world of good.
That could see Scarr come in for his first start in the league after playing ninety minutes in the Carabao Cup defeat against Sheffield United.
Scarr was signed from Championship outfit Plymouth Argyle this summer to challenge for a spot in the back three.
The 29-year-old is a former League One title winner with Plymouth and has amassed almost 200 appearances in the third and fourth tier.
However, such experience hasn’t proven enough to earn him minutes in the league, with Scarr named on the bench for their opening six league games.
With Wrexham playing Crawley on Saturday – a team who have lost their last three in all competitions – perhaps this could be the perfect time to unleash the giant centre half in place of O’Connell.
