Wrexham suffered a huge blow in their race for automatic promotion from League One on Saturday, drawing 1-1 at home to Bristol Rovers.
Wrexham went into a massive game against Bristol Rovers at the Racecourse on Friday, desperately needing a win after their previous 0-0 draw at Wigan Athletic in League One.
But Phil Parkinson, who watched the game from the stands, watched his side go into the break a goal behind.
Wrexham fought back in the second half and eventually got an equaliser through Matty James in the 76th minute, though a winner could not be found.

Wrexham fans fume at Jay Rodriguez after Bristol Rovers draw
A big talking point of late has been Jay Rodriguez. Wrexham signed Rodriguez from Burnley in the January transfer window and he’s since scored twice in 15 League One outings, failing to impress.
Wrexham fans wanted Rodriguez axed against Bristol Rovers but he started anyway. Once again fans had a lot to say about his performance.
“If Rodriguez is the answer what is the question, it’s like playing with half a player short,” asked one Wrexham fan. “He’s a terrible support player for [Sam] Smith.”
Others joined the debate, too. Comments ranged from: “All on Parky this, playing Rodriguez again,” even to this: “Get Rodriguez off let’s get back to 11 v 11.”
Parkinson certainly got some stick for his decision to start Rodriguez, with another fan adding: “Why can Phil Parkinson not see how bad Jay Rodriguez is… It’s puzzling to me.”
Another fan added: “How does Jay Rodriguez start so often.”

Jay Rodriguez’s stats for Wrexham against Bristol Rovers
Rodriguez certainly struggled to get into a game where Wrexham struggled to get going as a team, at least until midway through the second half where they started to show some umph.
But fans’ anger at Rodriguez is just, at least when looking at his stats which certainly show how he failed to get involved and failed to do much when he did get on the ball…
| Statistic | Rodriguez vs Bristol Rovers |
| Touches | 27 |
| Passes complete | 12 |
| Pass success | 71% |
| Shots | 0 |
| Duels won | 6 (out of 7) |
| Possession lost | 7 |
After that result, Wrexham now find themselves in 3rd place of the tale after Wycombe Wanderers won 1-0 at Bolton Wanderers.
Up next for the Dragons is a trip to Blackpool on Monday.
