Wrexham take on Blackpool in League One this afternoon as Phil Parkinson looks to get his automatic promotion push back on track.
The first part of the Easter double-header did not go Wrexham’s way.
Not only did Wrexham draw 1-1 with Bristol Rovers on Friday, but Wycombe Wanderers beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0.
That leaves Wycombe ahead of Wrexham by just one point with three games to play.
Phil Parkinson needs victories in order to reclaim second place, and that starts on Monday afternoon as Wrexham face Blackpool.
The Tangerines have been brilliant at home this season and will pose real problems for Wrexham, especially as their play-off hopes have not yet ended.
Wrexham lineup v Blackpool confirmed
Unsurprisingly, Parkinson has made changes to the Wrexham lineup.
Arthur Okonkwo keeps his place in goal, but Eoghan O’Connell’s knock against Bristol Rovers means he is only on the bench.
Dan Scarr takes O’Connell’s place in the heart of defence, flanked by Max Cleworth and Lewis Brunt.
Captain James McClean returns to the side and takes his place at left wing back, with Ryan Longman moving back over to the right side.
George Dobson starts in midfield alongside Matty James and Ollie Rathbone, leaving Elliot Lee on the bench.
Jay Rodriguez has been criticised by Wrexham fans, but keeps his place alongside Sam Smith in attack.
Callum Burton, Thomas O’Connor, Ryan Barnett, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher join O’Connell and Lee on the bench.
Ollie Palmer misses out despite making the trip to Blackpool
Tongues were wagging before Wrexham’s lineup was confirmed, as a video of Parkinson’s squad arriving at Bloomfield Road showed Ollie Palmer walking in.
The striker has been left out of Wrexham’s League One action since the defeat to Stevenage in January.
Palmer making the trip to Blackpool left some hoping that he would be involved on the bench against Steve Bruce’s side.
That hasn’t happened, though, with Palmer seemingly making the trip in case there were any injury or illness issues before the game.
George Evans and Harry Ashfield were also seen arriving but aren’t on the bench, also seemingly arriving as players to step up in case of emergency.
Whether Palmer ever plays for Wrexham again is still up in the air having completely fallen out of the first-team plans in recent months, and there was no sign of Paul Mullin in the Wrexham squad ahead of facing Blackpool.
