Wrexham and Cambridge United faced off in a League One fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Wrexham headed into the game looking to make it six wins from six in all competitions.
The Red Dragons progressed into the next round of the EFL Trophy earlier this week with a 1-0 win over Crewe Alexandra.
Phil Parkinson put out a second-string eleven for that clash, as was to be expected, but it was a much stronger team that lined out against Cambridge United.
Wrexham were predicted to beat Cambridge comfortably ahead of the game getting underway, with The U’s sitting 22nd in the League One table ahead of the weekend.
However, Elias Kachunga put the away side 1-0 up after 20 minutes, slotting in a cut-back from Shayne Lavery.
Cambridge’s lead lasted mere minutes, though, with Ryan Barnett whipping in a cross to the back stick for James McClean to head home.
Steven Fletcher then came off the bench and made it 2-1 in the 66th minute after a cut-back from Ollie Rathbone.
Lewis Brunt then gave away a penalty in the 87th minute, pulling down a Cambridge attacker before Dan Nlundulu converted from 12 yards to rescue a point for the visitors.

Here’s how the players rated –
Mark Howard – 6
Not a lot he could have done about the opening goal. Made some good saves and commanded his area well after that. Was sent the wrong way for the penalty.
Max Cleworth – 6
Should have done better closing down Lavery when he burst down Wrexham’s right to assist the opener.
Eoghan O’Connell – 7
Dominated in the air and largely led by example with two less experienced centre-backs playing alongside him.
Lewis Brunt – 3
Had a tough afternoon up against Cambridge’s pacey forwards and gave away a penalty that cost his side two points.
Ryan Barnett – 7
Didn’t do enough to stop Lavery from getting past him and Cleworth in the build-up to the opener but made up for it five minutes later by assisting McClean.
Matty James – 7
Not his best display in a Wrexham shirt but didn’t do a lot wrong. Passing was decent and started a couple of attacks with his long balls.
George Dobson – 6
Created some good chances for his side with his clever passing, linking up with Barnett on several occasions.
Ollie Rathbone – 8
Another lively showing from the midfielder who worked tirelessly, chasing down every loose ball and breaking up play well. Got the assist for Wrexham’s second.
James McClean – 8
A welcome return to the starting eleven after two games out, was excellent going forward, linking up with Barnett to get his goal.
Elliot Lee – 6
Caused Cambridge’s backline problems with his quick feet and cute passing. But is still lacking the instincts of a proper number nine in front of goal. Performed better when dropped down to his preferred 10 role.
Ollie Palmer – 6
Palmer was, as always, solid in the air and tried to set up his teammates on several occasions. He didn’t test the opposition keeper too much though.
Substitutes
Paul Mullin – 5
Didn’t do a lot during his time on the pitch. Now 18 League One appearances without a goal.
Steve Fletcher – 7
Missed a good chance less than a minute after coming on to put Wrexham in front, placing the ball into the back of the net with a cool finish. His display has given Parkinson a big selection call to make.
