Wrexham and Peterborough United faced off in a League One fixture on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Dragons kicked off in Wales aiming to bounce back following a 2-1 defeat to Barnsley last time out.
Wrexham had dropped down to third in League One following that loss but could have climbed as high as first with a win on January 4th.
Peterborough United haven’t been in great form this term and were winless in four prior to kick-off at the Racecourse Ground where Phil Parkinson’s side were unbeaten this season.
Wrexham dominated the opening 45 but as is becoming a common theme of late, didn’t create any real clear-cut chances.
It was a similar story in the second half with the Red Dragons pushing for a goal that didn’t look as though it would come until Steven Fletcher once again stepped up to score the winner.

Here’s how the players rated –
Arthur Okonkwo – 6
His first start in several months saw the goalkeeper rarely tested but he was composed and dealt with Peterborough’s limited threat well.
Max Cleworth – 7
Much more solid on Saturday after some questionable defensive decisions last time out, perhaps because Revan tracked back slightly more than Barnett normally does.
Eoghan O’Connell – 7
A quiet display from the centre-back but that’s not always a bad thing. He was dominant in the air and made a couple of key tackles.
Thomas O’Connor – 7
Another bright showing from the centre-back who was filling in for the injured Lewis Brunt. Came close to getting his first league goal since 2023 and was solid defensively.
Sebastian Revan – 6
Had the tough task of filling star man Ryan Barnett’s boots on the day but struggled to do so. The majority of Wrexham’s attacking threat instead came down their left flank.
Matty James – 6
Not his best display in a Wrexham shirt but did little wrong. Fans may have been hoping to see him create more, however, with Elliot Lee missing again.
Andy Cannon – 6
Controlled the tempo of the match well with some quick, intricate passing. Seems to be much better suited to playing alongside Rathbone and James than the man he replaced – George Dobson.
Ollie Rathbone – 7
Was a real workhorse throughout the 90 minutes, chasing down every loose ball and breaking up play. Made some threatening runs forward and provided the assist for the winner.
Jacob Mendy – 7
Had a point to prove after seeing so little game time this season and looked really sharp going forward. Produced a good ball to Andy Cannon in the first half who perhaps should have done better.
Ollie Palmer – 5
He’s been a great servant to Wrexham for several years but it’s becoming clear Palmer is no longer a top-level striker. He seems to have lost a yard of pace and he didn’t have much to begin with anyway.
Paul Mullin – 5
Had a lively first half but his connection with Palmer doesn’t seem to be there anymore. Hooked for Modou Faal after another bang-average outing.
Substitutes
Steven Fletcher – 8
Once again heroic off the bench, scoring the winner in the 86th minute.
Modou Faal – 5
Did little of note after being brought on.
James McClean – 5
Brought on to try and give Wrexham and extra attacking boost but didn’t have much of an impact.
George Dobson – N/A
Only on for a few minutes.
