Current Wrexham loanee Arthur Okonkwo has admitted that he was hesitant about a move to the Racecourse Ground this summer.
The 22-year-old Arsenal ‘keeper was on loan at Sturm Graz in Austria last season, making 15 appearances before returning to the Gunners for pre-season.
Okonkwo was brought in late in the transfer window by boss Phil Parkinson after Ben Foster announced his immediate retirement from football aged 40.
He’s no stranger to League Two, having enjoyed a stint at Crewe Alexandra during the first half of last season, where he featured 23 times before being recalled by Mikel Arteta’s side.

Okonkwo on his Wrexham move
Speaking on the Yours Mine Away Podcast with teammate Mark Howard, the 22-year-old spoke about how his move came about and why he was hesitant.
“I got a call from my agents, right close to the end of the window actually and they told me that this was a possibility, have a move to Wrexham.
“As soon as it came through I was a bit hesitant, I was like that’s interesting. Obviously, I knew the history of the club.
“I hadn’t watched the documentary but I knew about everything being in the football world, the new owners and other players talk about Wrexham, it’s a big club now.
“As soon as the chance came, this is a great club and it would be good to have a move there.”

A good start to life at Wrexham for Okonkwo
The Arsenal-owned goalkeeper has caught the eye since his deadline-day move to the Red Dragons, keeping three clean sheets in five appearances.
He will be hoping to add to his clean sheet tally as Wrexham travel to face Bradford City at Valley Parade on Saturday afternoon.
