Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has now received an injury boost ahead of the derby clash against Newport this weekend.

There have been plenty of injuries for Wrexham to contend with this season which may have hampered them.

This hasn’t affected Phil Parkinson and his side as their form has been superb following National League promotion.

Before the campaign had even begun, Paul Mullin had already been ruled out due to a horror injury against Manchester United.

There have been injuries to star players throughout the season with Arthur Okonkwo being one of those to be out.

With all that being said, the Reds are now sitting in second place in League Two after a great season so far. 15 wins from a potential 26, according to FotMob, just goes to show how good they’ve been.

Ahead of the Newport derby this upcoming weekend, there has now been an injury boost reported.

In recent weeks, there has been a shortage of central defenders for Parkinson to pick from due to injury worries.

Parkinson has been without Eoghan O’Connell, Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe for many weeks. It is very unfortunate to have had all of them out at once.

This has allowed youngster, Max Cleworth to come into the starting XI more regularly and now flourish in the role. It does show that there is a silver lining to these problems but the Reds would rather have no injuries.

With that being said, The Athletic have now reported that there is some positive news for Wrexham fans on the injury front.

On that, they said: “Injuries have to be factored in, even allowing for how Parkinson expects Eoghan O’Connell, Aaron Hayden and Jordan Tunnicliffe to join Ollie Palmer, a late substitute against Wimbledon, back on the training pitch this week.”

Like Cleworth, the injury to Palmer has allowed Steven Fletcher to return from his own injury and come into the starting XI. His goal helped the Reds take a 2-0 win over The Dons this weekend and cement his place in the team.

Although Parkinson has voiced his concern regarding transfers in the January window but these will be like new signings.

Given the quality that players like Hayden have shown this campaign, to have them back will make a difference.

Especially given that the Cross-border derby is coming up this weekend, it will be great to see this name’s return. The additional depth to Parkinson’s squad can only be a benefit.
