Wrexham are about to embark on their final journey of their pre-season tour down under as they prepare to face Wellington Phoenix.
After a positive start to the tour in a 3-0 win over Melbourne Victory, Phil Parkinson’s side suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat in Sydney, with a number of players putting in below-par displays.
The Wrexham squad are now in New Zealand and whilst the tour’s priority is gaining valuable minutes and fitness for the players, it is also being used to increase the club’s standing worldwide.
Owner Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have helped Wrexham become one of the most recognisable football clubs in the world and this has been proven following their departure from Australia.

Wrexham commercial sales in Australia eclipse USA and Canada tours
Writing for the Athletic, Wrexham chief executive Michael Williamson has been updating fans on the club’s progress throughout the tour.
Whilst there are no official figures as of yet, Williamson has revealed that every Wrexham product has sold out in Australia during their visit and they will beat past sales records.
Williamson stated: “On the retail side, Australia proved rewarding. This is the first year of our global distribution deal, and my understanding is that every Macron/Wrexham product in Australia has sold out as we left Sydney.
“There was literally nothing left. Driving from the hotel to the match, I couldn’t believe it – so many people were on the streets wearing Wrexham kits that it felt like we were back in Wales, outside the Racecourse Ground. Amazing.”

Wrexham announced a new sponsorship with Ancestry for their training kits ahead of the new campaign and they are set to beat sales records from their previous trips to USA and Canada.
Williamson explained: “It’s too early to talk exact sales figures but we’ve already outperformed the sales from the previous tours to the United States and Canada. And, don’t forget, we played some big Premier League teams in 2023 and 2024.”
Michael Williamson spotted in Liberato Cacace’s family restaurant in New Zealand
Wrexham fans are eager to hear of progress in the transfer market and it appears that they are closing in on the signing of Liberato Cacace.
Italian media outlets claim Wrexham have agreed a fee with Empoli for Cacace and now Williamson has been spotted in the family restaurant of Cacace over in New Zealand.
It is expected to be a club-record fee for the New Zealand international and the Red Dragons are not stopping there after it was reported that Wrexham are preparing a bid for Alfie Jones.
The owners promised to splash the cash this summer and it looks like the spending spree is just beginning. Commercial sales will only serve to help the funding of new acquisitions to the squad.
