Wrexham are set to sign Liberato Cacace from Empoli, but the fee looks set to be much higher than initially thought.
Wrexham fans have been adamant that signings must be made this summer, with there being just two names through the doors so far.
Ryan Hardie has joined Wrexham, whilst Danny Ward has returned to the club where he came through the academy.
Phil Parkinson will be keen to add to his ranks, which has led to Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac splashing the cash on Liberato Cacace.
In what was initially thought to be a £2.2m deal for Wrexham to sign Cacace, it turns out that Reynolds and Mac are set to spend far more on their ‘record’ signing.

Wrexham’s incoming signing Liberato Cacace set to cost Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac £4m
The jump from League One to the Championship calls for Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac to significantly upgrade the squad, with Wrexham needing extra firepower to prepare for the new season.
Thankfully, there has been a clear show of ambition from Reynolds and Mac in the deal to sign Liberato Cacace.
In what was thought to originally cost the Hollywood duo £2.2m, it turns out that, via Pete O’Rourke, they will have to fork out a hefty fee that could reach £4m to attain the services of the New Zealand international in what will be a ‘club record’ deal.
Cacace looks set to be Wrexham’s third signing of the summer, with the 24-year-old set to bolster Parkinson’s defensive options.

Liberato Cacace will arrive at the Racecourse Ground with lofty expectations
There were plenty of expectations on Liberato Cacace as things stood, with him arriving for the originally reported £2.2m. However, the newly reported price that he is set to arrive for, many will expect him to completely transform this current Wrexham side.
Cacace has shown his quality in Serie A and New Zealand, and he also knows how to perform when under the cosh, as he has had to do for Empoli in Italy’s top division.
It is a brilliant show of ambition from Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac to bring Cacace to the side, but all expectations cannot be placed on his shoulders – his arrival must be followed up by even more signings, otherwise that vast increase in quality of the Championship could take Wrexham by surprise.
