Wrexham have announced their eleventh signing of a busy summer and there is hope that it won’t be the last.
Wrexham have signed Ben Sheaf from Coventry City in a deal worth £6.5m for the midfielder as Phil Parkinson gets his wish of adding more experience to his midfield.
Sheaf has been a stalwart for Coventry City in the Championship having come through the ranks at Arsenal as a youngster.
He arrives in North Wales to provide competition for the likes of Matty James and George Dobson in the centre of the park but has revealed that Wrexham have already surprised him before during his career.

Ben Sheaf reveals Wrexham ‘surprised’ him when facing them for Coventry City
Sheaf has already experienced playing against the Red Dragons whilst playing for Coventry back in 2023 during a FA Cup tie.
Wrexham won the game 4-3 despite being a National League side with Paul Mullin and Elliot Lee among the goal scorers.
Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel upon signing for Wrexham, Sheaf has revealed his ‘surprise’ over the quality of the side that night.
Sheaf stated: “I think it was a pretty chaotic game, I remember actually being quite surprised by the quality of the team at the time.
“I think they went two or three nil up at the time and then we started to come back into the game right at the end but yeah Wrexham were rightful winners on the day.”
Wrexham will now be hoping to produce similar results against Championship opposition on a more consistent basis this season and Sheaf will play a huge part in achieving that target.
Ben Sheaf targeting Premier League with Wrexham
During his first interview with the club, Sheaf has made it clear that he shares the ambition of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney of reaching the Premier League.
Sheaf explained: “The trajectory of the club, what it has done over the last three or four years seems like it is only going one way.
“To get on board with that and ultimately the goal is to get the club in the Premier League and I think that from speaking to the manager and from the ambition of the owners I think it’s pretty clear it is only going one way.”
Wrexham grabbed their first win of the league campaign with an excellent away performance at Millwall and will now be hoping to build further momentum after the international break.
