Wrexham co-owner, Rob McElhenney has once again opened up on social media, this time heaping praise on Phil Parkinson for his impact on the Reds.
This weekend saw Wrexham made it three wins in a row as they secured a 2-0 win over Wimbledon at home.
Last time out, Phil Parkinson’s side secured their place in the next round of the FA Cup after a hard-fought win against Shrewsbury.
In a return to League Two action, the Dons were welcomed to The Racecourse and had some good chances early on. On the whole, the away side had the majority of the play in the first 45.
Despite this, the Reds came out for the second half and other than some brief spells, they had control and better chances.
Thanks to a quick burst of goals in the 61st and 69th minute, Steven Fletcher and Paul Mullin helped to secure a 2-0 win.
With that being said, the difference between the first and second-half performance at times was clear. This has prompted Rob McElhenney to react on social media.
Rob McElhenney reacts to Parkinson heroics
The first half saw the Dons take control for good spells compared to the Reds’ efforts early on in the game. According to FotMob, the away side had eight shots in the first half alone. This is compared to the three of Wrexham.
By comparison, the Reds had seven shots in the second half and were able to score two in quick succession.
This proved to be a quality difference as James McClean’s crosses helped take advantage of some poor misses by Wimbledon.
However the game was won, there is no doubt about the difference in performance between the first and second half.
There was clearly a change in mindset or mentality at the half-time interval as there was an improvement in goal potency. On that, McElhenney took to Twitter to show his appreciation to the Reds manager.
On that, he said: “If we could bottle up and sell what Phil says to these players at halftime we’d be billionaires.”
This is yet another addition to a long list of social media posts from Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney following Reds wins.
There is clearly something special within this Wrexham side which helps them to get over hurdles and secure another victory. This was clear during their National League promotion campaign and has continued into League Two.
It is clear to see McElhenney’s love for the club once again and long may this great form, grit and determination continue.
