Wrexham goalkeeper Callum Burton has officially signed a contract extension at the club.
Wrexham signed Danny Ward following his release from Leicester and the addition of the Wales international threw Burton’s future into doubt.
Phil Parkinson will use Ward as his number two behind last season’s hero Arthur Okonkwo, meaning opportunities for Burton moving forward could be limited.
However, Wrexham have just announced a new two-year contract for the 28-year-old and the player is delighted to extend his stay at the Racecourse Ground.

Callum Burton has ‘loved’ his time at Wrexham upon signing contract extension
Speaking to Wrexham’s official website, Burton has expressed his enjoyment at the Red Dragons so far in his career despite injury frustrations.
Upon signing his new contract, Burton stated: “I loved my year here last year even though it got cut short by injury.
“Wrexham is a Club on the rise, and I want to be able to play my part in that.”
Rob McElhenney praised Burton for his form last season before a torn thigh muscle disrupted the rest of his campaign. The goalkeeper will now be hoping to play his part in the Championship adventure.
Phil Parkinson ‘pleased’ with Callum Burton’s contract extension
Red Dragons boss Parkinson has also given his verdict on the news that Burton will spend the next two seasons in North Wales and claims the keeper is a ‘key component’ of his Wrexham squad.
Parkinson stated: “I’m pleased that Callum has signed, he did well last season and he was unfortunate to get injured. Callum is a key component in our goalkeeping department and his value cannot be underestimated.”

With three quality keepers now at his disposal, it is up to Parkinson to juggle game time and keep all three happy at the club.
He doesn’t have the luxury of the EFL Trophy this season and may now have to utilise the Carabao Cup and FA Cup to rotate.
However, fierce competition for places is what drives players forward and in the goalkeeping department, Wrexham certainly have that.
