Wrexham have drawn Welsh rivals Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup fourth round, scheduled to take place in late October.
On Tuesday night, Wrexham beat Reading 2-0 in the Carabao Cup third round, booking themselves a spot in the fourth round of the tournament for the first time since the 1977/78 season.
It’s another huge achievement for the club under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, and now they and the fans have been treated to a fourth round tie against Welsh rivals Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds were relegated from the Championship last season whilst Wrexham were promoted to it, meaning the two don’t meet in the league.

When was the last time Wrexham played Cardiff City?
For much of this Century, Wrexham have slumbered in the non-league whilst Cardiff City have played in the Championship and even in the Premier League.
The last time the two teams played a competitive match was way back in 2002 in the old Division 2. Cardiff won that one 3-2 and have won their last two against the Dragons.
Wrexham’s last win over Cardiff was in 2000 in Division 2, at the Racecourse, which is where the two teams will meet in the Carabao Cup fourth round week commencing October 27th.

Cardiff City fans are raring for Wrexham clash
Wrexham fans are certainly buzzing with this draw, and of course, so too are Cardiff City fans who are eager to stamp their authority on Welsh football following their relegation into League One.
“Biggest game of the round, Sky will have that one,” said one Cardiff City fan. “Makes up for not playing them in the league that,” said another.
Others joked: “Who do we face in round 5?” as a similar comment read: “When’s the quarter final draw?”
This Cardiff City fan said of his team: “I want these boys licking their lips at this draw. Let’s have them boys,” and others shared their excitement, too. “Capital City vs Disney FC, I can not wait!” taunted one supporter.
Another wrote: “Wrexham away. We will do them! I have faith! Come on City.”
Meanwhile, this supporter posted online: “Yes! Get in. As a Cardiff fan who grew up in North Wales close to Wrexham I’m very much looking forward to this, definitely going to get tickets for this.”
Whilst a spot in the quarter-finals is the ultimate prize in this match, bragging rights are on the line too, and perhaps more important than progressing in the cup.
