Wrexham are now just a week away from beginning their first Championship campaign in 43 years.
Phil Parkinson’s side have been busy in the transfer market upon returning from their pre-season tour down under and up to five players could make their debut against Groningen in their latest friendly.
Wrexham will be keen to get minutes under the belts of the likes of Lewis O’Brien and Liberato Cacace, whilst Sam Smith is also a player yet to feature for the club this campaign.
New signing Conor Coady will also be hopeful of playing a part and has revealed that he has already witnessed something at a ‘top, top level’ upon arriving in North Wales.

Conor Coady praises meeting with Phil Parkinson upon signing for Wrexham
During his first interview for the club upon his arrival Coady has revealed that a conversation with Parkinson before signing was at a ‘top, top level.’
Coady stated: “Speaking to him [Parkinson] was just top, top level. I’ll be honest, it was something that I really enjoyed and spoke football for quite a while and you’ll get to know me, I will speak to people about football all day long.
“So to speak to him for a good while about what the club is about, what the people are about, what the lads are like, what the supporters are about and to give me the opportunity to play in front of these supporters, I’m massively massively grateful for that.
“I’ll say thank you to him when the time is right but it was a fantastic conversation and something that I really chucked myself into to listen and learn from him.”
Phil Parkinson determined to prove doubters wrong at Wrexham this season
Much has been made of Parkinson’s Championship record in the past but he is building a Wrexham squad that looks set to compete in the upper ends of the division.
He is being backed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, but more importantly, Parkinson is now becoming a huge reason behind players wanting to sign for the club.
Achieving three successive promotions is a magnificent feat and one that we probably won’t realise the significance of until further down the line.
Having players of the calibre of Coady talking so highly about the manager should be music to the owners’ ears.
Wrexham’s ultimate goal is to achieve Premier League football and they want it as early as the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
However, along that journey, it is important they remember the work that Parkinson has put into the club in building the impressive foundations that are now in place to propel the club forward.
