Wrexham star, Elliot Lee has opened up about the tactical side of the game that Phil Parkinson changed in order to beat Colchester United this weekend.
It is safe to say that it has been a great start to the season for Wrexham and that continued this week at The Racecourse.
Coming back into the EFL, Phil Parkinson has done a superb job to see the Reds sit at the top end of League Two.
This weekend, there could have been a slip-up as George Evans was sent off early on for a poor challenge on the halfway line.
Elliot Lee had already opened the scoring but going in at halftime, the end result could have gone either way in the second 45.

Thanks to an own goal later in the day, Wrexham were able to see the result out and secure all three points. The goalscorer, Lee has given credit to his manager for his half-time impact.
What has Elliot Lee said about Phil Parkinson?
Against United, the Englishman extended his lead in the club’s top-scorer charts. He grabbed his 12th goal of the season meaning he has 14 goal involvements in 20 starts this campaign.
This helped to see the Reds over the line to secure all three points on the day. Despite Lee’s impact, the midfielder has put the win down to his manager.
Discussing Parkinson with Leader Live, the midfielder has opened up about the tactical changes that he made in the interval.
On that, he said: “The gaffer said at half-time that we dropped too deep when we went down to ten men. We let them on to us and he was bang on.
“We wanted us to come out second half and just stick to our normal game plan; go at them and stay at a bit higher, and it worked.”
Although Colchester had more possession and accumulated more xG throughout the game, they couldn’t make it count. There were periods in the half where the Reds had their chances and eventually made it count through an own goal.
Discussing that, Lee added: “It was credit to the gaffer. He wanted us to go and get a second goal and we wanted to get a second, and not sit back.
“Getting in at half-time was important at 1-0 and that little tweak changed the mentality from the boys. It was ‘let’s go and get the second and kill them off’, and we did that so full credit to the boys and the staff, we pulled through.”
It was an important win for Wrexham which keeps them in the hunt for that automatic promotion spot. Back-to-back promotions are not yet off the cards.
