Wrexham-born Danny Ward has had his say on the ‘amazing’ impact that Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have had on the club.
Ward is one of the most successful players to ever come out of Wrexham. He’s had a marvellous career in the Premier League for a variety of big clubs including Liverpool, Leicester City and Huddersfield Town.
He’s also earned 32 caps for the Welsh national side, with the goalkeeper eligible due to growing up in Mancot, Wrexham. Ward has been a Red Dragons fan his whole life and even played for the club at academy level, before moving on to Liverpool.
Despite moving to such a big club, he never forgot his roots. The 30-year-old still has a huge affiliation with the club.

Danny Ward on Hollywood owners
Ward has been absolutely delighted with how things are since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over. In a recent interview with betting company Parimatch – the 30-year-old spoke about the ‘amazing’ impact they’ve had on the club.
“Ever since I left, I’ve still been following them, but it’s just happier times for us now,” Ward began.
“I went to the Notts County game which was one of the best games of football I’ve ever seen at any level. It was incredible.
“But what’s going on there is brilliant. Obviously, the football side of things is there for everyone to see. You know, with the documentary and how well they’re doing.
“The owners bring massive publicity to the city, which I think is huge. It shows the humility that they have as people as well.
“Some people maybe have a perception of A-list Hollywood actors, that it might be a little project for them, a bit of fun. But you can see that they’re fully invested in the football club and the city. It’s weird saying city… because it is now.
“When I was down at the game, it might have been that day or a couple of days later they were picking up the freedom to the city, you know? To get that sort of accolade, you don’t just get that for owning a football club and putting a few quid in.
“That’s by being fully invested in the place, and they’ve been amazing for everything in Wrexham so far.”
The ex-Wrexham lad would be absolutely correct. The monumental rise of not just the club, but the city since Hollywood came knocking has been nothing short of sensational.
Now League Two beckons for the club. It appears like only the sky is the limit now for the small Welsh town. We’re massively excited to see what occurs over the next season.
