Fans are convinced Ryan Reynolds is a time traveller after ‘spotting’ him in an 1878 team photo which was shared on Wrexham’s Twitter.
It’s rare for fans of modern football to feel a connection with their owners. Up and down the leagues we see seemingly irreparable rifts between owners and fans, which often tear the respective clubs apart.
Wrexham couldn’t be any further from that since the club was taken over by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney several years ago.
Fans go wild after spotting ‘time traveller’ Ryan Reynolds in 1878 team photo
The relative football newbies have fully immersed themselves in the local community and customs of Wrexham, which has massively endeared them to fans.
The relationship fans have with the Wrexham owners is pretty remarkable. A lot has been said about Ryan Reynolds since he became a part of the club (nearly all of it positive), but in a strange turn of events fans are now calling the Deadpool actor a ‘time traveller’.
It comes after fans think they spotted Reynolds in a team photo from 1877. Wrexham tweeted a squad photo of the Welsh side that played at the Racecourse in 1877, with the caption: “On this day in 1878, we won the first-ever Welsh Cup Final, with a last-gasp 1-0 victory over Druids.”
However, fans couldn’t help but notice the uncanny resemblance of one team member to Reynolds. They came to the perfectly reasonable conclusion that Ryan is indeed a time traveller.
Reynolds weighs in on hilarious time traveller claims
“OMG, the previous life of Ryan Reynolds… he also looks like Damien Lewis,” one fan joked. A second added, “Ryan Reynolds the ultimate time traveller!”
“Not only one of the oldest clubs in the world you got the oldest owner of the world. @VancityReynolds you’re ageing well! Time travel has done wonderful things for you,” a third joked. “I mean, you’ve got to admit this is utterly mental!” a fourth said.
Thankfully, Wrexham cleared things up, saying: “We can confirm that’s not @VanCityReynolds on the front row.” Ryan Reynolds also replied, saying: “You sure? As mentioned, I have an extensive nighttime skincare routine.”
Reynolds recently sat down to discuss the madness of last season, and in particular that iconic 3-2 victory against rivals Notts County.
The club was promoted from the National League with a record 111 points, which means they return to the Football League next season for the first time in fifteen years.
